Elevated Outdoors is an excavation contractor serving Glens Falls, Queensbury, Saratoga Springs, Lake George, Fort Ann, Argyle and nearby towns. Most of our work is excavation, tree removal and lawn maintenance, and we also handle land clearing, landscaping, hardscaping, demolition, concrete work and snow removal in the winter, which means one local crew can take a property from the first tree down to the finished yard. Jobs range from a single tree or trench up to a full site for a new house, so give us a call at (518) 760-1339 to talk through yours.
Owner Doug Durkee spent 15 years in construction and excavation, running jobs for other companies, before he started Elevated Outdoors. At those larger companies, he saw how often nobody kept the customer or the crew informed, so communication is what he focuses on most in his own business. You'll know who's coming, what they're doing and where your job stands from the first call to the final grade.

Site Work, Tree and Yard Services for Glens Falls and Nearby Towns
Excavation, tree removal and lawn maintenance are the main parts of our work. Each service below has its own page with details on how the work is done and what affects the price.
Excavation
Excavation covers foundation digs, trenching, gravel driveways and pads, drainage and grading. It's the main part of our work, on jobs that range from a single trench to a complete site for a new home.
More details
Tree Removal
We take down dead, dying, leaning and unwanted trees, in sections when they stand close to the house. Tree removal is one of our main services, and we can get the ground ready afterward.
More detailsLawn Care
Our lawn maintenance runs from the first spring cut to the last one in the fall. Bare patches and low spots that hold water can be fixed with grading and new seed.
More details
Land Clearing
We clear trees, brush and undergrowth for a house site, a driveway or open ground. On a building lot, the clearing goes straight into the excavation with the same crew.
More details
Landscaping
Our landscaping covers grading, garden beds, mulch, river rock, stone edging and new seed. The ground underneath is graded first, so the yard drains away from the house.
More detailsHardscaping
We build retaining walls, walkways and paths on a base that's dug, packed and drained, which is what keeps them straight and level through the frost.
More detailsSnow Removal
We clear snow through the winter so you can get in and out after a storm. Winter service runs on a list, so call in the fall before the first snow.
More detailsDemolition
We take down what has to go before new work starts, then fill, pack and grade the ground so it's ready for whatever comes next.
More detailsConcrete
Our concrete work goes with our site work. The dig and the packed stone base are part of the same job, and the base is what keeps a slab from cracking and settling.

Why Hire Elevated Outdoors
Clear Communication on Every Job
Doug started Elevated Outdoors after years at larger construction companies where customers were left out of the loop, and he made communication the focus of his own business. On every job, you'll know who's coming, what they're doing and where your project stands, and if the plan changes, you'll hear about it before the work goes on.
Experience Running Excavation Jobs
Before starting the business, Doug spent 15 years in construction and excavation, running jobs and handling the technical side for other companies. That experience shows in the planning, from staking out a foundation to working out where the water will go once the work is finished, and he takes real pride in the quality of the work.
One Local Crew From the First Tree to the Final Grade
Because Elevated Outdoors handles land clearing, tree removal, excavation, demolition, concrete work, landscaping and hardscaping, most outdoor projects don't have to pass between several companies. The same crew can clear a lot, dig it, set the driveway base and grade the yard, which keeps each step in the right order.
Small Jobs and Full House Sites
Some jobs are a single tree, one trench or a gravel pad for a shed. Others are a full site for a new home, where Elevated Outdoors handles everything except the structure itself. Both get the same attention, and you'll get the same clear answers about what the work involves, whatever the size of your job.
Call (518) 760-1339How Site Work for a New Home Comes Together
On a new house, the ground work runs in a set order, and each step depends on the one before it. Elevated Outdoors handles all of it, from the first tree down to the final grade.
Clearing the Lot
Trees, brush and stumps come out of the house site and the driveway. Stumps and roots left under a foundation rot and let the ground settle.
Marking the Lines
Before any dig, the buried utility lines are marked through 811, and the corners of the house are staked out from the survey.
Digging the Foundation
The topsoil comes off and is saved. The hole goes down below the frost line, with room outside the walls for the footing forms.
Footings and Walls
The footings and foundation walls go in. The outside of the walls is waterproofed, and drain pipe goes along the footing.
Backfill and Base
The dig is backfilled in layers and packed, so the ground doesn't settle against the house, and the driveway gets its gravel base.
Final Grade
The ground is shaped to fall away from the house, the saved topsoil goes back on, and bare ground gets seed and straw.

Serving Glens Falls and Nearby Towns in Warren, Washington and Saratoga Counties
Glens Falls, Queensbury and Saratoga Springs
Glens Falls, Queensbury and Saratoga Springs sit along the Northway (I-87) and Route 9. Queensbury wraps around Glens Falls in Warren County, and Saratoga Springs is to the south in Saratoga County. Elevated Outdoors provides excavation, tree removal, lawn maintenance and the rest of our services across all three, and Saratoga was the first place Doug named when asked where he works.
Lake George and the Adirondack Park
Lake George is north up the Northway, inside the Adirondack Park. Lots that drain to the lake fall under the Lake George Park Commission's stormwater rules, which the town and village zoning offices run, so it's worth asking there early about any dig. We work in both the town and the village of Lake George.
Fort Ann and Argyle in Washington County
Fort Ann is northeast of Glens Falls on Route 149, where it meets Route 4, and Argyle is southeast on Route 40. Both are rural towns, where a new house often starts with land clearing and a long gravel driveway, and where fields that have grown back to brush can be opened up again.
Castleton and Other Towns in Vermont
Elevated Outdoors also takes jobs over the line in Vermont, including Castleton on Route 4, and Doug has worked as far north as Middlebury. Vermont has its own dig-safe system for marking utility lines, also reached by calling 811. If you're not sure we cover your town, give us a call and ask.

Anything from a single tree or trench up to a full site for a new house. On a new home, we handle everything except the structure itself.
For ground work, it's how much ground has to move, what's under it, how easy it is to get equipment in, and how much material gets trucked in or hauled away. For a tree, it's the size, the lean and what's underneath it.
Call us or send the form. Tell us what the job is, where it is and roughly how big, and we'll talk it through and give you a price.
What the job is, where it is and roughly how big. For anything new being built, the survey and the plans help, and for yard work, a few photos of the area are useful.
Yes. In New York, every dig has to be called in to 811 (Dig Safely New York) at least two full working days ahead, so the utility lines get marked. 811 doesn't mark private lines, like a wire out to a garage, a well line or a septic line, so tell us where yours run.
It depends on the job and the town. New houses, additions and garages need a building permit, and demolition usually does too. Your town's building or zoning office will tell you what your job needs.
Some work, yes. Frozen ground is slower to dig and concrete can't go on it, but tree removal and land clearing are easier on the lawn when the ground is hard, and snow removal is our winter work. Spring mud season is usually the slowest time for heavy equipment.
Yes. Water in a basement or a yard that stays soggy is usually a grading or drainage problem, and both are part of our excavation and landscaping work. Call and tell us where the water sits or comes in.
Yes. Elevated Outdoors handles all three, so a lot can go from standing trees to a finished yard with one crew and one schedule. Doug chose the name because the business covers so much of the work outside a home.
